Domestic Violence

When they say, “It’s not a gun problem, it’s a mental health problem”

I am so tired of waking up each morning and turning on the news to yet another mass shooting in the United States. I’m even more tired of hearing people argue that “It’s a mental health problem, not a gun problem.” Oh yeah? So what are ya’ll going to do about that mental health problem, then?

It’s such a copout. They have no intention of doing anything about the problem, regardless of what is causing it. Can we just do something already? Anything?

Personally, I think it is a gun problem. But I also think it is a mental health problem. It is a toxic masculinity problem stemming from the reaction of men to being forced to allow women to be their equals. It’s also a domestic violence problem. Just look how many of the perpetrators of these crimes have a history of family violence.

Whatever you think the problem is, how about doing something — literally anything — to combat that problem?
